Certification of Welding Operators

The qualification aims to verify the operator’s ability to control and adjust the welding unit in fully mechanized and automatic processes, and to qualify them according to the validity fields specified by the reference standards used for certification.

The qualification of welding operators can be conducted in accordance with the following international standard:

International Weld is accredited by ACCREDIA, in accordance with ISO/IEC 17024, for the certification of welding operators.

International Weld is Recognized as a Third Party for the approval of personnel involved in the execution of permanent joints for pressure equipment of categories II, III, and IV, as per Annex I, Article 3.1.2 of Directive 2014/68/EU PED.

Certification Process

The certification process for welding personnel involves the following steps:

1. Acceptance of the economic offer.

2. Submission of the certification application.

3. Qualification activities, including a practical test and the required laboratory tests.

4. Deliberation and issuance of the certification.

The qualification activity includes the execution of one or more sample tests representative of the production, supervised by qualified inspectors from I-WELD.

Destructive and non-destructive tests required by standards are carried out at laboratories accredited by I-WELD. The preparation for the test execution can occur through specific training programs or through in-house training under the supervision of an expert.

Application opportunities

The UNI EN ISO 14732:2013 standard, released in October 2013 (replacing EN 1418), applies to fully mechanized and automatic processes for metallic materials.

The practical test also includes the verification of functional knowledge of the welding unit, such as joint preparation, adjustment of parameters, and clamping devices, etc.
